Digital Tips
Here are some tips for file preparation in our digital department.
- Scans - RGB is best (better if we do them).
- Use current programs but not betas or early releases like version
1.01.
- Don't use rotation or non-linear scaling of photos in Postscript
programs such as Quark Xpress.
- Don't use check box font modifiers.
- If colors are critical ask for a color test of your colors from
your program.
- Small CMYK scans with high levels of unsharp masking usually make
poor murals.
- Optical media (CDs) are more durable for air shipping than magnetic
disks such as Zips and Syquests.
- Arbitrarily enlarging photo files to match mural printer resolutions
yields ungainly files. Please ask for help before doing this.
